Planning Updates - School Rd, Edneys Hill, Brook Farm Barkham Street and  Barkham Square

Land to the west of Edneys Hill adjoining Barkham Road.

In our last Alert sent on the 26th July we drew attention to the latest planning application (251486) that has been made to develop the land with 16 houses and flats which would close the green wedge separating development along Barkham Road. This application – being the latest of a number of previous failed applications on this site - has predictably created an outcry of opposition. The attached leaflet giving reasons why it should be rejected has been produced by a BPC Councillor and circulated to nearby residents  The public consultation runs until 19th August.

Brook Farm, Barkham Street

A planning application (251824) has been made for a Certificate of Lawful Use for child minding and nursery purposes (i.e. for the lawful continuation of a planning unauthorised use that has been going for some time) – and for construction of two new buildings for this purpose. The consultation period runs until the 3rd September

Land between School Road and Langley Common Road

Our attention has been drawn to a pre-application consultation on plans to develop this land with 32 homes. See attached. The site is not identified for development in the draft Local Plan. The attached leaflet has been circulated to nearby residents

By all means object if you wish but our advice is not to go into detailed comments at this stage as this could allow the developer to say they have addressed residents' concerns. Better to wait until the formal planning application is made.

Land behind Barkham Square

We have received reports of soil sampling work being undertaken on this site. The land, of course, is dentified for residential development in the draft Local Plan: so perhaps a formal planning application is getting closer.

Kind Regards
