Blagrove Lane Update & Local Plan

Blagrove Lane Development

We recently reported that this application (222306) was going to be considered by the WBC Planning Committee on the 11th September with an Officers’  recommendation for approval – but  despite that it was rejected by the Planning Committee. A big thank you to everybody who sent in objections and made the councillors see sense. However, an appeal can be anticipated against a backdrop of the new Government’s wish to boost housing.

Local Plan Update

The long awaited proposed Local Plan has now just been published and will be discussed at the WBC council meeting on the 19th September.

It is a formidable document running to some 1500 pages and has much relevance to Barkham and its immediately adjacent areas. We are going to be giving it some detailed study and will keep you informed as it progresses forward.

Particular mention can be made of proposals to–

  • Site 600 houses at the back of Barkham Square
  • Develop 300 houses on the adjoining site of Arborfield Studios
  • Give consent to Traveller sites on land off Commonfield Lane, and Wood Lane

Kind Regards
