June 2024 Update

No new alerts but we would like to provide an  update on previous alerts and other activity.

  1. The amended application (240788) for 9 mobile home units at Bluebells Farm in Commonfield Lane (like the earlier application for a larger scheme) has been rejected.

  2. The Council has determined that the use of 23 Almond Close (240778) as a children’s home does not need planning consent.  This may be a disappointing decision to those living close by.

  3. A part retrospective application made by the Scrapyard in Highlands Avenue for construction of a footpath and 9 street lights has been refused (240343).

  4. The application to build 26 properties at 31 Barkham Ride (230791)  was approved at a meeting of Wokingham Borough Council’s planning committee last week (June 12). It appears the decision was controversial - more details can be found in a report on the wokingham.today website. https://wokingham.today/outrage-over-barkham-ride-decision/

  5. Solar Farm (241264) -  a new application supplementary to the consent (211081) already granted seeks to vary some of the layout of this large scheme.

  6. School Road closure:  The “experimental” closure of School Road was made subject to a review. That decision is apparently due to be reviewed in July. Concern has been expressed about the increase in traffic – particularly in Langley Common Road and Linkway in Arborfield (access traffic the School) .  Suggestions have been made by residents  to imposing a 30mph speed limit along Langley Common Road (currently subject to a 40mph limit).

  7. We are aware that another application may soon be submitted for several hundred houses at Barkham Square. As with the previous application in 2018, we strongly oppose any development at Barkham Square. We will update you as soon as we have any more information.

  8. Finally the long awaited local plan update still hasn't been issued and isn't expected to appear until after the general election.

Kind Regards
BVRA
